As an Downstream Chemicals Automation Specialist , you will define, execute, and scale automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, reliability, and customer outcomes across refining and industrial chemical applications. You will own the end‑to‑end product lifecycle and ensure seamless integration with Baker Hughes digital platforms and customer systems.
Defining and supporting SD in executing the DSC automation product strategy aligned with digital modernization goals.
Owning the product roadmap, prioritizing features, selecting technologies, and planning phased deployments.
Managing the full product lifecycle from concept and pilot through commercialization, scaling, and end‑of‑life.
Ensuring automation solutions integrate with BH digital platforms and customer systems (data, visualization, reporting).
Coordinating with third‑party automation partners for installation, training, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Acting as the primary product owner for automation within the DSC digital and automation portfolio.
Collaborating with engineering, digital & analytics, operations, HSE, sales, and marketing to deliver scalable solutions.
Supporting commercial teams with technical expertise, value messaging, and product positioning.
Monitoring market trends, competitor offerings, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.
Gathering customer feedback to refine offerings and drive adoption.
Identifying innovation and differentiation opportunities to strengthen BH’s automation value proposition.
To be successful in this role you will:
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Bring 6–10 years of experience in Downstream Chemicals, refining, or industrial process environments.
Have 3+ years in product management, automation, digital, or technology‑focused roles.
Have hands‑on exposure to DCS, SCADA, PLCs, and field instrumentation.
Be able to demonstrate working knowledge of IIoT, data platforms, and digital integrations.
Have strong understanding of downstream chemical operations, applications, and economics.
Be able to translate technical capabilities into business value and customer outcomes.
Have proven cross‑functional leadership and stakeholder management.
Have structured problem‑solving, prioritization, and decision‑making capability.
Have automation product adoption and deployment scale.
Have customer satisfaction and retention.
Have operational efficiency and safety improvements.
Be able to generate revenue growth and margin contribution from automation offerings.
