Job Description

At Southall, we are on a mission to inspire culinary consciousness — crafting unique, seasonal experiences that celebrate the journey from seed to plate. Our immersive dining environments are deeply connected to the land, offering guests not just a meal, but a story.

Dottie’s, our hidden speakeasy, is a space where intimate conversation, elevated cocktails, and thoughtfully crafted small plates come together to create unforgettable nights. As a Server at Dottie’s, you will guide guests through a discreet, personalized, and immersive dining experience, bringing warmth, precision, and personality to every table.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an exceptional, story-driven experience that reflects the spirit of Dottie’s and Southall’s seed-to-table philosophy.

  • Be highly knowledgeable about menu offerings, seasonal ingredients, and cocktail selections, communicating them with authenticity and enthusiasm.

  • Take guest orders accurately, including any allergies or special preferences, and enter them into the POS system.

  • Coordinate seamlessly with the kitchen and bar to ensure precise timing and presentation of food and beverages.

  • Anticipate guest needs, read each table’s vibe, and tailor the experience accordingly — whether guests seek quiet privacy or lively interaction.

  • Promptly respond to guest requests or concerns with professionalism and care.

  • Process cash and card transactions accurately; settle any voids or comps according to policy.

  • Assist with resetting tables, side work, and general cleanliness of the space.

  • Support other Food & Beverage outlets during high-volume periods or as needed.

Skills & Experience:

  • Prior hospitality or fine dining restaurant experience required; speakeasy or cocktail bar experience preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of food, wine, and craft cocktails

  • Excellent communication and guest service skills.

  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced, high-touch environment.

  • A collaborative spirit and positive attitude.

  • Passion for storytelling, hospitality, and seasonal cuisine.

Education & Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • TABC Certification required (or must be completed upon hire).

  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule.

  • Must be comfortable working in a dimly lit, atmospheric space and navigating tight spaces discreetly.

OUR BENEFITS

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, company-provided life insurance
  • Generous paid time off accruals
  • 9 paid holidays annually
  • 401k and company match
  • Education reimbursement

About Southall - Farm and Inn

Southall is the evolution of traditional Southern hospitality, an authentic working farm with an inn, restaurant, and spa just outside of Nashville on over 325 acres of lush and rolling hills. This is a place of gathering, connection, and nature, where guests are nurtured and nourished, inspired by innovation and education. Here, curiosity leads to learning, learning leads to understanding, and understanding leads to new possibilities—culminating in a deep, meaningful experience for all.

The journey of a seed, touched by earth, water, and sunlight, supported and cared for until it is primed to achieve its purpose; the journey of a visitor, perhaps seeking relaxation, connection, or reflection, offered the space and guidance necessary to explore and grow; the journey of this land itself, a vast tract that holds its traditions even as it is transformed into a place to discover, to learn, to revel.
