Right now our Tacoma Warehouse is seeking a DOT Truck Driver - Class A or B - FT

Hourly Rate: $25.75 per hour

The DOT Truck Driver operates Class A air-braked equipped combination vehicles to and from Retail and Donation sites in a safe and efficient manner.  Class B vehicles also available.

Salary: $25.75 per hour

Schedule: This position works 4/10s (Four, 10-hour work days)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The DOT Truck Driver responsibilities Includes the following and other duties as assigned:

  • Drives diesel powered tractor with 27’ or 53’ trailer between distribution center, retail stores and donation centers
  • Backs up trailer to loading dock.
  • Places stairs against the back of the trailer to load items into trailer.
  • May place chains on tires in snowy weather.
  • No touch freight
  • Class B, transport compactors and dumpsters to landfill or transfer station

Daily Vehicle Inspection

Complete daily prepost trip inspections and maintenance checks; ensures that all aspects of vehicle operation and material handling are done according to proper safety procedures Responsible for vehicle’s equipment and for reporting repair needs.

Follows Safety Procedures

Adheres to all Goodwill and FMCSA safety regulations; reports all safety hazards, incidents, and accidents immediately

Customer Satisfaction

Build and maintain good rapport and relationships with customers and clients.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

  • CDL Class A or Class B
  • 3 - 6 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current Medical Examiners Certification (DOT Physical)
  • All offers of employment are contingent upon the receipt of a background check report, which may include a review of the applicant’s driving record and drug screening, as deemed acceptable by Goodwill.
  • Commercial Truck Driver Career Education Program is preferred, HS diploma or GED preferred
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills
  • Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and consensus

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics. Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets. Ability to create and manage departmental budget.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel and PowerPoint.

Other Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of DOT Truck Driver.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Washington State Driver’s License required; CDL Class A or B

Other Qualifications: Self-motivated; resourceful, creative; high integrity; problem solver; looks to resolve issues; positive can-do approach; and ability to build effective working relationships.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and type. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally required to work in wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, with fumes or airborne particles, and to endure vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
