Dosimetrist - Part Time

4010 Radiation Oncology

Schedule: Day Shift. 24 hours weekly. Remote. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

About the Position

The dosimetrist is responsible for providing medical dosimetry services for Radiation Oncology. The dosimetrist performs all required dosimetry duties including treatment planning, calculations, chart checks, and the record/verify information system. The dosimetrist works closely with the radiation oncologists, physicists, the radiation therapy supervisor, and radiation therapists.

Overview of Responsibilities

· Follows radiation safety policies and guidelines.

· Takes responsibility for personal radiation safety and exposure monitoring.

· Appropriately uses radiation protection devices.

· Follows safety policies and precautions for Cerrobend alloy.

· Follows hot lab safety and security requirements.

· Demonstrates understanding of Code Red responsibilities.

· Follows infection control policies and procedures.

· Demonstrates awareness of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and their significance.

· Follows Radiation Oncology and Radiology Department safety policies and procedures.

· Operates equipment in a safe manner to prevent injuries to personnel and patients.

· Competently operates treatment planning system.

· Competently operates Record/Verify Information System.

· Competently performs calculations and documentation.

· Ensures that proper procedures are followed for the receipt, storage, and handling of radioactive materials for brachytherapy and implants.

· Adheres to Quality Management Program (QMP).

· Follows Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements.

Education & Experience

• Education Required: Current certification as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist required for remote dosimetry. Board eligible and CMD must be obtained within one year of being hired for on-site dosimetry. Board eligible and CMD must be obtained within one year of being hired for on-site dosimetry.
• Experience Preferred: Experience with Varian Treatment Planning System is preferred. Experience with Aria Record/Verify Information System is preferred.

Licensure and Certification

• Certifications: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) , BLS required for on-site dosimetry and not required for remote dosimetry.
