Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of experience working in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field. OR A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field
  • At least 1 (one) year of Archaeological field experience.
  • Successful completion of an archaeological field school.
  • Knowledge of Florida’s historic and pre-contact periods.

Preferences:

  • Master’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
  • GIS experience.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Adobe software (Photoshop and Illustrator).
  • Technical archaeological experience including report writing, data management, laboratory management, cataloging, artifact documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in cultural resource reconnaissance surveys conducted on state-owned lands and assist in report writing.
  • Conduct laboratory analysis of artifacts, including washing, sorting, cataloging, and secondary analyses.
  • Process and track applications for Archaeological Research (1A-32) Permits.
  • Assistwith the Archaeological Resource Management (ARM) training.
  • Assist in collecting data for damage assessments.
  • Manage archaeological supplies and equipment, keeping them well maintained andorganized.
  • Assist the public and other state workers with inquiries, questions, problems, etc.that relate to cultural resources on state lands.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in rough terrain in sometimes harsh conditions.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Strong computer literacy focused on the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe, ESRI.
