About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Community Development Manager to join our dynamic Group Engagement & Sales Excellence team.

The Group Engagement & Sales Excellence team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by generating and identifying leads, building a pipeline of potential donors, building relationships, and ensuring the growth and maintenance of a high quality, committed donor base. In this role you will also be responsible for community engagement in the Downtown Vancouver region and maintaining a good public image for the donation centres to ensure there is ongoing public support.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your research and community engagement skills, you will organize and deliver information sessions, recruitment presentations, and outreach initiatives tailored to targeted groups based on demographic, market, and community analysis.
  • Applying your networking and relationship-building abilities, you will identify, engage, and cultivate new donor and partner opportunities through referrals, prospecting, strategic outreach, and community networking.
  • Drawing on your business development expertise, you will drive new and existing growth opportunities by developing strategic partnerships, expanding community presence, and building sustainable stakeholder relationships.
  • Utilizing your territory planning and sales management skills, you will develop territory maps, outreach roadmaps, and engagement plans to prioritize activities, maximize market coverage, and achieve recruitment and development objectives.
  • Harnessing your organizational and logistical planning skills, you will oversee site management and event logistics, including contact management, venue coordination, floor plans, capacity planning, scheduling, and event modifications using established change management processes.
  • Applying strong analytical and operational skills, you will conduct site assessments, inspections, and qualification activities to ensure venues meet operational, safety, accessibility, and donor experience requirements.
  • Leveraging your project management capabilities, you will coordinate and support event logistics, including equipment requirements, setup and teardown activities, inspection readiness, and cross-functional operational planning.
  • Drawing on your customer service and donor engagement skills, you will continuously seek opportunities to enhance donor experience and satisfaction while working collaboratively with donor centre leadership to meet and exceed service and feedback goals.
  • Utilizing your collaboration and partnership skills, you will work closely with the Regional Development Manager and internal stakeholders to implement recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies that support regional goals.
  • Employing your creativity and communication skills, you will support promotional activities, digital content, campaigns, and themed initiatives to increase awareness, participation, and community engagement.
  • Using your interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, you will establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with community organizations, corporate partners, internal teams, and specifically the Integrated Supply Chain within the region.
  • Drawing on your communication and public relations experience, you will represent the organization as a media spokesperson and ambassador when required, delivering clear and compelling messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Applying strong time management and prioritization skills, you will effectively manage competing priorities, maintain prospect and partnership pipelines, and ensure timely follow-up and execution of business development and outreach activities.

Desired education and skills

  • Degree or diploma in marketing, business administration, communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in business development, sales, account management, community engagement, or corporate development.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, developing, and closing opportunities while achieving performance goals.
  • Experience coordinating events, logistics, site management, or operational planning is considered an asset.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, venue qualification, and operational readiness assessments is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with experience delivering multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including confidence presenting to audiences of varying sizes.
  • Proven ability to communicate and build relationships effectively with diverse stakeholders, community partners, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage territory plans and competing priorities effectively.
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license is required.

What you can expect

  • A flexible work schedule is required as events occur during the day, in the evening, and on weekends, sometimes on short notice.
  • Travel within the Greater Tortonto Area.
  • Must be physically able to complete job duties, which include: lifting up to 50 lbs, loading/unloading vehicle, setting up venue, long periods of travelling, and standing and/or sitting.
