Join Goodwill of the Finger Lakes, where our mission is elevating people, community, and planet for a good today and a better tomorrow As a Donor Greeter, you are often the first person donors interact with when they visit our stores. By welcoming donors, assisting with their contributions, and ensuring donated items are properly handled, you'll play a vital role in supporting our mission and helping create opportunities throughout the communities we serve.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome and assist donors with unloading and bringing donations into the store
  • Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact for donors and visitors
  • Accurately record and maintain donation log documentation
  • Sort donated goods into appropriate categories for processing and transportation
  • Properly label carts, containers, and other equipment used for donation processing
  • Assist with loading and unloading merchandise and equipment as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures when handling donations, moving merchandise, and operating equipment
  • Address donor and customer concerns in a courteous and respectful manner, seeking support from leadership when needed
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized donation area, sales floor, and surrounding store environment
  • Support store operations through cross-training opportunities and additional responsibilities as assigned

  • Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and respect in all interactions
  • Understand the impact donations have on supporting Goodwill's programs and services
  • Take pride in providing exceptional customer service while working efficiently and safely

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous retail, warehouse, customer service, or donation center experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain an organized work environment
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Work Schedule & Availability

  • Open and flexible availability preferred
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required
  • Schedule may vary based on business needs

Work Environment

This position works in a combination of retail, donation receiving, and processing environments. Team members regularly interact with donors and customers and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions while accepting donations. Work may also take place in a donation processing area with a warehouse-like environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of donated items and equipment
  • Regular bending, reaching, crouching, and other physical movements associated with donation handling
  • Ability to safely move merchandise and donations of varying sizes and weights
  • Frequent work both indoors and outdoors during donation acceptance
