Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Donor Centre Supervisor to join our dynamic Collections team in our ON-Ottawa-Carling Ave donor centre.
The Collections Team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will assist in the collection of blood and blood products ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and all required documentation is carried out. You will play an integral part in building and promoting a positive donor experience and encouraging donations
• Drawing on your ability to be proactive and take initiative, you ensure that there are adequate staffing resources in some locations, may be required to maintain Health Screening competencies.
• Utilizing your ability to be detail-oriented, you will ensure that collection and quality control processes are performed in accordance with regulatory and corporate specifications.
• Applying your organizational skills, you will complete non-conformances and Reaction/Incident Reports in a timely manner and provide feedback to staff.
• Drawing on your managerial experience and knowledge, you will observe trends and manage overtime, sick time, and absenteeism; you will also interview and hire staff and manage staff performance.
• Using your superb leadership skills, you will coach and mentor staff, and correct techniques such as venipuncture.
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, plus three years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Fosters an environment that values donor centered care, risk taking, innovation, adaptability, flexibility and critical thinking.
• Models the advocate role as it relates to donor care.
• Demonstrated ability to identify variances and implement strategies that lead to desired outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to guide individuals toward the vision of the organization while fostering team-work and commitment to excellence in the provision of donor care.
