The Domain Architect I will define, govern and optimize the technical architecture within the domain, ensuring engineering applications are secure, integrated, scalable and aligned to enterprise architecture standards. Act as the domain-level architectural authority, balancing technical integrity, operational performance and portfolio alignment.

Role accountabilities:

  • Define and maintain architectural patterns, standards and integration principles for the domain.

  • Ensure solutions align to enterprise architecture and technology strategy.

  • Validate solution designs prior to implementation within the domain.

  • Lead domain-level system integration design and data flow alignment.

  • Ensure consistent API, data exchange and interoperability standards.

  • Prevent architectural fragmentation and duplication.

  • Provide technical input into portfolio prioritisation and roadmap decisions.

  • Support evaluation of new tools and platforms for architectural fit.

  • Advise on retain/replace/retire decisions for domain applications.

  • Liaise with software vendors and technical partners as needed regarding architectural matters.

  • Ensure vendor solutions meet enterprise security and integration requirements.

  • Support technical governance during contract and renewal reviews.

  • Work closely with Enterprise Architecture to ensure alignment to enterprise standards.

  • Partner with other Tech teams to ensure architecture supports operational reliability.

  • Provide technical leadership to domain engineers and specialists.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Over 3+ years in solution or domain architecture roles.

  • Strong understanding of the engineering applications ecosystem.

  • Experience designing and governing integration-heavy environments.

  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.

  • Experience defining and maintaining architectural patterns, standards and integration principles for the domain and ensuring solutions align to enterprise architecture and technology strategy.

  • Strong capability in domain-level system integration design and data flow alignment, including API, data exchange and interoperability standards.

  • Ability to provide technical input into portfolio prioritization and roadmap decisions and advise on retain, replace and retire decisions for domain applications.

  • Experience liaising with software vendors and technical partners and supporting technical governance during contract and renewal reviews.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with Enterprise Architecture and other Tech teams and provide technical leadership to domain engineers and specialists.

  • Leadership style that empowers Arcadians, promotes accountability and continuous improvement, and supports a healthy, inclusive and high engagement culture aligned to the Arcadis Leadership profile of being curious, driving success and igniting passion.

  • Degree level education in computer science, software engineering, information systems or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
