Job Description

Does this sound like your current job?

  1. The "Warehouse" Ratio: You’re alone with 30+ dogs, just "surviving" the shift.
  2. The Paycheck Lottery: You have no set schedule, so you never know if you'll have enough hours to pay your bills.
  3. The "On-Call" Anxiety: You get called in constantly on your days off or are bothered by work texts after hours.
  4. The "Stranger" Factor: A dog that comes once every three months shows up and ruins the pack dynamic you worked so hard to build.
  5. No Place to Breathe: You don't even have a quiet place to decompress on your break.

If that sounds familiar—stop settling. At Four-Legged Fun Zone, we’ve built something very different.

Professional Work/Life Boundaries:

  1. Active Group Leadership: You’re working with 10–15 dogs—not 30+—so you can actively lead the group instead of just surviving the shift.
  2. Locked-In Schedule & Paycheck: You have a consistent Tuesday–Friday schedule with reliable hours. No guessing, no last-minute changes.
  3. Zero "On-Call" Stress: You’re not being called in on your days off or dealing with work texts after hours. When you’re off, you’re off.
  4. No “Pop-Ins”: Dogs are on consistent schedules and part of stable groups—you’re not constantly resetting dynamics with unfamiliar dogs.
  5. A Real Place to Decompress: You have a dedicated space to step away from the noise and reset during your break.

The "Sanctuary" Model (The Escape):

  • The 4-Visit Standard: New dogs must pass a structured 4-visit intro program. We don’t gamble with your safety for a registration fee.
  • The Reset Hour: Every day includes a one-hour Nap Room. This is built-in time to reset the group, complete report cards, and prepare for the afternoon in a calm environment.
  • Real Success Stories: Through our Nervous Dog Program, you work with dogs one-on-one until they are ready to join group play successfully.

The Role

This is a high-responsibility specialist position. You have the professional autonomy to curate the energy of your room. You aren't "watching" dogs—you are leading them.

Compensation

  • Base Pay: $20/hour
  • Group Specialist Bonus: $2.50/dog/day (12-13 dogs) | $5/dog/day (14-15 dogs)
  • Target Total Earnings: $20–$29/hour

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience independently managing off-leash playgroups of 10+ dogs for full-length shifts (3+ hours at a time), on a recurring basis (at least weekly), sustained over several months in a professional setting—not short-term, one-off, or fill-in coverage
  • You worked independently as the decision-maker responsible for group behavior, safety, and real-time handling (not assisting, rotating dogs, or working under constant supervision)
  • Proven ability to assemble balanced groups and adjust placements based on behavior.
  • Strong understanding of dog body language and behavior management.
  • Reliability and punctuality — the team depends on you.
  • Physically able to be on your feet 6–8 hours/day and handle dogs up to 150 lbs.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

How to Apply

If this role sounds like a fit, complete the application and answer all questions thoughtfully.

We review every application carefully. Candidates who demonstrate relevant experience managing off-leash groups, strong decision-making, and attention to detail will be contacted for the next step.

This position is designed for someone looking for a stable, long-term role—not a temporary or transitional position.

About Tailored Pet Services

At TAILored Pet Services LLC, we personally understand that pets are important family members. They hold a special a place in our hearts and in some cases become our children. We also realize that finding the right individual to take care of their emotional and physical needs is an important decision.

We promise your pets will always receive one-on-one attention, be watched by a consistent person and loved like our own dogs. You can leave your pets in the comfort of their own home knowing they will receive the same love and attention you provide.

Dog Care Services:

• Dog Walking: Sometimes it just isn't possible to walk our furry friends. My team/I will exercise your dog(s) so you find a cheerful and calm friend when you return. Whether your dog needs a leisurely stroll, brisk walk, or fast jog, these customized visits will happen regardless of the Pacific Northwest weather.

• In-home boarding: In-home boarding is very different from a traditional kennel because only 1-2 dogs from the same household stay with us at one time to ensure a personalized experience. We encourage our furry guests to relax/nap on the couches and utilize the floor for playtime. On warm days, we spend time in the fenced back yard so they can enjoy the outdoors. At bedtime, your dogs can to snuggle on the master bed or sleep in a dog bed on the floor like they would at home.

• Overnight Pet Sitting: We have a slumber party in your home with your pets as the guest of honor so they will remain in their own environment and maintain their normal routine. Our overnight services include dinner/evening potty break, staying overnight (including sleeping with your pet if that is part of the routine), breakfast/morning potty visit and other home-care tasks.

Clients love and recommend TPS. If you’d like to be put directly in touch with some of them, contact us and we’d be happy to connect you!
