Job Description

Terms of Reference (ToR): Documentary Film Production Consultant, STRIVE Program – Indonesia

Location: Indonesia

Assignment Date: Until May 2027

Contract Type: Consultant (6 months)

A. BACKGROUND

Nurani Perdamaian Indonesia (NPID), through the GCERF, is implementing the Strengthening Rehabilitation and Reintegration and Improve Social Cohesion against Violent Extremism (STRIVE) Program from January 2025 to December 2027.

Implemented in partnership with national and local civil society organizations and in close collaboration with relevant government institutions, the STRIVE Program seeks to strengthen Indonesia's efforts in preventing violent extremism by supporting the reintegration and rehabilitation of returnees, former violent extremist offenders, and individuals at risk, while fostering resilient and inclusive communities. The program is implemented across three primary intervention areas:

  • Jakarta
  • Bima, West Nusa Tenggara
  • Poso, Central Sulawesi

Throughout its implementation, STRIVE has promoted multi-stakeholder collaboration involving government agencies, civil society organizations, community leaders, religious leaders, youth, women, and beneficiaries to strengthen social cohesion and sustainable reintegration.

As the program approaches its completion, NP Indonesia intends to produce a high-quality documentary film that captures its journey, achievements, lessons learned, and the human stories behind the intervention. The documentary is expected to serve as a legacy product, an advocacy tool, and a knowledge resource that highlights the importance of sustained investment in community resilience and reintegration beyond the program period.

B. PURPOSE

The purpose of this consultancy is to produce a compelling documentary film that captures the overall implementation and impact of the STRIVE Program while communicating the continued importance of community-based reintegration and resilience-building efforts.

About Nonviolent Peaceforce

Iraq, Myanmar, Sudan, South Sudan, Thailand, Philippines, US, Ukraine | HQ in Geneva

Our Mission

Nonviolent Peaceforce is a global civil society organization. We protect civilians in violent conflicts through unarmed strategies. We build peace side by side with local communities. We advocate for the wider adoption of these approaches to safeguard human lives and dignity.

Our Vision

We envision a world in which large-scale unarmed civilian peacekeeping using proven nonviolent strategies is recognized as a viable alternative in preventing, addressing, and mitigating violent conflicts worldwide. Our primary strategy for achieving this vision is the creation of space to foster dialogue.

Our Work

We most often respond to invitations by credible local organizations committed to nonviolent solutions. Once invited, we meet key players, including commanders from opposing sides, local police, religious, business, and civil society leaders. We live and work in communities within conflict zones alongside local people.

When violence erupts, civilians under threat often contact us. They know and trust us. We have been living among them. Visibly nonpartisan and unarmed, we arrive in NP uniforms, with NP vehicles, letting our presence be known.

Our activities have ranged from entering active conflict zones to remove civilians in the crossfire to providing opposing factions a safe space to negotiate. Other activities include serving as a communication link between warring factions, securing safe temporary housing for civilians displaced by war, and providing violence prevention measures during elections.
