Job Description

The Medical Oncology Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital is recruiting for suitable Advanced Trainee for 2027.

The position would also suit trainees in palliative medicine & general medicine - potentially meeting accredited core training in Medical Oncology.

Salary

$138,978 - $194,675 per annum

Salary range is in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025

Classification

Medical Practitioner Level 5-11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar)

Award

Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro rata), commencing from 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.

Note, part time hours negotiable.

Duties

  • The Registrar is responsible for the day to day management of public inpatients and outpatients within the Royal Hobart Hospital and provides first on call cover for the Medical Oncology unit. Required to do infrequent shifts covering the emergency met calls at the hospital.

Essential Requirements

  • Registration or eligible for Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    • Crimes of Violence
    • Sex Related Offences
    • Serious Drug Offences
    • Crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
