Job Description

In this role as a docking engineer, the sucessful candidate will work in a small team of Engineers, Docking Supervisors, and hourly technicians.

Work tasks will include the following:

  • Primary tasks will include coordinating the material management and readiness of the various Graving Docks and floating assets (Atlas, Sea Shuttle and Holland).
  • Work closely with facilities personnel to schedule, fund and oversee all aspects of material management of the docking assets.
  • Work closely with engineering disciplines tasked with technical cognizance to adjudicate material deficiencies and remediation.
  • Work closely with Docking Engineer to update and revise maintenance, technical manuals and technical drawings.
  • Draft, track and manage correspondence with external government stakeholders and coordinate response to stakeholder requests.
  • Modify and publish preventative maintenance cards as advised by Docking Engineer, Dock Technicians, and Tech Leads.
  • Ensure all correspondence comply with reference documents, in particular MIL-STD-1625D and NSTM Chapter 997.
  • Candidate must have a proven track record in the areas of safety, quality, cost, schedule, process improvement, and communications.
  • Candidate must be able to promote a positive team environment and be highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must have the ability to interact with all levels of management, the customer, and Human Resources and be able to ensure EEO and OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) OR 10+ years of experience of experience managing material readiness of facilities or maritime barges and ships.
  • 5+ years of experience managing material readiness of facilities or maritime barges and ships.

Preferred:

  • Technical writing background
  • Prior experience with Navy 3M System and Current Ship’s Maintenance Project (CSMP)

Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Interpersonal skills to work in a fast-paced environment with all levels of the workforce
