New Smyrna Marina is a waterfront marina located in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, providing boating services and customer support to local boaters, guests, and visitors. Our team is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for everyone visiting the marina.

We are seeking an energetic and dependable individual to join our marina team. This is a hands-on position that is ideal for someone who enjoys boating, working outdoors, assisting customers, and staying active in a fast-paced waterfront environment.

New Smyrna Marina is seeking a dependable and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Dockhand & Marina Team Member. This position is responsible for supporting daily marina operations, assisting customers with their vessels, providing fueling and dockside services, maintaining clean and organized marina areas, and supporting operations within the Fishing Store.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to work safely and effectively in an outdoor waterfront environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Dock & Vessel Operations:
    1. Assist customers with docking and safely securing their vessels.
    2. Assist with vessel launching, movement, docking, and retrieval.
    3. Provide assistance to customers during arrival and departure from the marina.
    4. Assist with the safe handling of boats, lines, and related equipment.
  2. Fueling & Dockside Services:
    1. Fuel vessels while following all applicable safety procedures.
    2. Provide courteous and efficient dockside service to customers.
    3. Fill and transport bags of ice for customers and vessels.
    4. Assist customers with general marina service needs.
  3. Boat Cleaning & Preparation:
    1. Wash, clean, and prepare boats for launch or storage.
    2. Maintain clean and organized dock and marina areas.
    3. Assist with general upkeep of vessels and marina facilities as needed.
  4. Fishing Store Operations:
    1. Assist guests and customers in the Fishing Store.
    2. Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service.
    3. Process cash transactions accurately and responsibly.
    4. Maintain an organized and welcoming store environment.
  5. Equipment Operations:
    1. Learn to properly and safely operate a marine forklift.
    2. Follow all required procedures when operating marina equipment.
    3. Maintain awareness of surroundings and customer safety while operating equipment.
  6. Customer Service:
    1. Provide a friendly, professional, and helpful experience to every marina guest.
    2. Respond to customer questions and requests in a courteous and solutions-oriented manner.
    3. Represent New Smyrna Marina professionally when interacting with customers and visitors.
  7. Safety & Compliance:
    1. Follow all marina safety procedures and applicable safety regulations.
    2. Maintain a safe working environment for customers, coworkers, and visitors.
    3. Properly use required equipment and follow instructions for safe operation.
  8. Team Collaboration:
    1. Work collaboratively with other marina team members to support daily operations.
    2. Assist coworkers with operational tasks as needed.
    3. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older
  2. Strong customer service skills and a positive attitude.
  3. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  4. Ability to work outdoors in Florida heat and weather conditions.
  5. Ability to stand and remain active for extended periods of time.
  6. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  7. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  8. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  9. Ability to work safely in an active waterfront environment.
  10. Ability to interact professionally and courteously with customers and guests.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Basic boating knowledge, including lines, knots, boat handling, and marine safety.
  2. Previous marina, boating, or waterfront experience.
  3. Previous customer service experience.
  4. Experience with general maintenance, mechanical work, or hands-on trades.
  5. Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment.
  6. Experience handling cash transactions.
  7. Familiarity with boats, marine equipment, or boating-related products.

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily in an outdoor waterfront environment. The employee may be exposed to Florida heat, humidity, sun, rain, water, and other outdoor weather conditions.

The position requires frequent interaction with customers, boats, marina equipment, and other team members in an active marina environment. Employees must be comfortable working outdoors and remaining active throughout the workday.
