Loading Dock Supervisor

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Loading Dock In this role, you will verify materials received are as ordered and route incoming items to appropriate departments/locations. You’ll prepare items for shipment ensuring cost effective courier services. May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate company vehicle to deliver shipments; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area.

You’ll ensure the seamless flow of goods and supplies throughout the resort, enabling every department to deliver an exceptional guest experience. By leading efficient receiving, shipping, and inventory operations while supporting and developing associates, you’ll help maintain smooth day-to-day operations behind the scenes, so teams have the resources they need to succeed.

Positions starting as early as September This position may require occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay Rate - $22 - $24/Hr.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
  • Inspect shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Prepare shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; packs items to ensure safe delivery.
  • Prepare bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
  • Deliver items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items.
  • Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by Associates, Supervisors, Department Heads, Senior Management, and guests.
  • May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
  • May operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; may operate company vehicle to deliver shipments; may assist in routine maintenance of equipment and shipping area.
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or control standards.
  • Participate in training classes and Daily Promise shift meetings.

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 2 years of warehouse experience, preferably in a resort, hotel, attractions, or food and beverage setting.
  • Knowledge of postal or commercial shipping methods and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal service skills and organizational skills to plan time effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment, work under pressure and meet deadlines with particular attention to detail.
  • Outstanding coordination and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful.
  • High school degree is preferred.

Physical Demands

Occasionally required to run; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch. Constantly required to stand and walk, reach and grasp. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This job operates in an active and noisy environment. Frequent changes in environment temperature.
