Hinckley Yachts has been building and servicing America’s finest yachts since 1928. The Hinckley Company, known for building and servicing strong, seaworthy and beautiful yachts, is seeking a Fiberglass Technician for our boat yard in Southwest Harbor, Maine. The Fiberglass Technician repairs and repaints defects in fiberglass boat hulls, decks, cabins, and small parts, using hand tools and power tools.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for cash in payment of mooring, fuel, and other fees.
  • Recognizes customers, their boats and boat name and greets with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to quickly learn the cash register and company billing process for appropriate customer invoicing.
  • Fuels boats, handles lines, carts and carries supplies, sets-up launch and dinghies.
  • Performs general dock maintenance: trash, painting, washing decks, drives trailer.
  • May perform mooring checks, drive launches/dinghies where boat handling skills are important.
  • Good communicator; comfortable with VHF radio.
  • Observes and reacts to problems or emergency situations that may occur on or within range of the dock.
  • Responds to customer’s questions regarding marina and local services available.
  • Cooperatively assists staff from other departments when requested.
  • Understands and performs all work to Hinckley quality standards.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules and early start times and weekends.
  • Must be able to work on the water, in or off boats, during inclement weather.
  • Requires working under somewhat disagreeable conditions on an occasional basis where elements such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, cold, vibration, noise, water or chemicals may be present.
