Location: Ypsilanti, MI
Schedule: Day Shift, Mon- Fri- NO WEEKENDS

The Durable Medical Equipment Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessment of patient home medical equipment needs and the selection, instruction, and troubleshooting of appropriate equipment and services provided to meet those needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Education: Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist

Experience: One year hospital based respiratory care or home care experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

Responsible for overseeing Respiratory Services. Responsible for set-up of respiratory equipment and DME as needed. Responsible to educate patient and family in proper use, adverse reactions, equipment maintenance and equipment safety appropriate for equipment being set-up. Responsible for patient assessment, Plan of Care when needed in a timely manner. Acts as a liaison between Trinity Health Hospitals and the family, caregiver, physician and other healthcare agencies and staff on the case. Perform duties as requested by supervisor. These duties could include activities such as helping patients with resupply services, obtaining appropriate documentation to provide supplies/equipment; processing orders; verifying insurances and obtaining authorizations; assisting with inventory, etc. Interacts with all employees, customers, and physicians in a courteous, respectful and friendly manner. Remains aware of visitors and patients in public areas: assist customers whenever it appears appropriate by providing directions, helping them with chairs or doors, etc. Adheres to the hospitality "House Rules". Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, associates, and visitors to Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places. Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Trinity Health. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
