This is a key leadership role in Hawke’s Bay for someone who knows the utilities space and wants to make a real impact. As Divisional Manager – Utilities, you’ll lead a business that delivers good work safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard across the region.

You’ll own the divisional contribution to the regional business plan across financial performance, safety, people leadership, forward work, operational delivery and customer relationships. It’s a role with real scope, real responsibility and plenty of room to shape how the division grows. If you’re motivated by performance, progress and building strong teams, this is well worth a look.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead the utilities division to deliver safe, high-quality work for customers, on time and within budget.
  • Drive financial performance through strong business planning, budgeting, forecasting, capex and divisional targets.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of forward work through pricing, tendering, customer engagement and smart commercial decisions.
  • Grow strong relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers while managing risk and identifying opportunity.
  • Lead and develop your team by setting clear expectations, backing people to perform and creating a culture of accountability, safety and good work.

  • Proven senior leadership experience in utilities, civil construction or infrastructure, with a strong track record of operational and commercial delivery.
  • Strong relationship skills and the confidence to work closely with clients, understand what matters to them and negotiate practical commercial outcomes.
  • Solid contracting and commercial knowledge, including a sound understanding of NZS3910 and disciplined contract management.
  • Financial management experience, with the ability to lead against plans, budgets and targets while keeping close to performance.
  • A people-first leadership style, strong safety focus and the ability to build capable teams who work hard, back each other and keep moving forward together.
