We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Divisional Manager – Merchandising to lead the merchandising and sourcing strategy for hard goods categories serving the US market. This role owns end-to-end execution across sourcing, vendor management, costing, quality, delivery, and customer alignment, while partnering closely with US buying teams and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver commercially competitive products that meet customer expectations, margin targets, quality standards, and speed-to-market requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Merchandising Leadership: Lead all merchandising, product sourcing, and execution activities for hardgoods categories tailored for the US market, managing the lifecycle from initial concept alignment through to production and final shipment.
Strategic Sourcing Strategy: Develop and execute commercially competitive sourcing strategies that support customer requirements, drive category growth, maximize margin performance, and ensure supply continuity.
Cross-Functional & Client Alignment: Partner closely with US buying teams to thoroughly understand product direction, quality expectations, target costs, compliance mandates, and seasonal go-to-market timelines.
Vendor Management & Performance: Oversee vendor selection, onboarding, relationship management, and performance evaluation to ensure strong supplier capability, cost competitiveness, and operational reliability.
Product Development & Cost Optimization: Drive proactive product development and sourcing with suppliers, actively participating in sample reviews, material selection, and structural cost optimization.
Commercial Negotiation: Secure business objectives by negotiating competitive pricing, production lead times, factory capacity allocations, and favorable commercial terms with manufacturing partners.
Risk Mitigation & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor production milestones to resolve supply, quality, or capacity risks, collaborating with internal cross-functional teams to meet regulatory frameworks and shipping requirements.
Market Intelligence: Analyze macro market trends, product innovations, supplier technical capabilities, and raw material cost movements to uncover new sourcing opportunities and bolster market competitiveness.
Team Leadership & Executive Reporting: Lead, coach, and mentor team members while providing regular business updates, sourcing performance data, and risk mitigation action plans to senior management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
10+ years of merchandising, sourcing, or product development experience, with significant focus on hard goods categories.
Mandatory prior experience managing end-to-end hardgoods sourcing operations specifically tailored for US retailers.
Deep understanding of the US retail landscape, including customer expectations, product quality standards, compliance regulations, costing structures, and go-to-market timelines.
Strong commercial capabilities with a demonstrated track record in strategic supplier management, price negotiation, product development, and production follow-up.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer needs, and maintain high standards of quality, speed, and margin performance.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced sourcing environment.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
Full willingness and flexibility to travel as required to support vendor visits, customer meetings, and business reviews.
Fluency in both English and Chinese is a must.
