About the Program

Under its TB portfolio, Jhpiego supports the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP) in implementing innovative and evidence-based strategies to accelerate TB case detection andimprove treatment outcomes. The Cough Syrup Surveillance Initiative aims to identify presumptive TB cases through pharmacy-level surveillance of cough syrup sales and strengthen referral linkages for timely TB screening, diagnosis, and treatment initiation.

About the PositionThe Divisional Coordinator – TB will serve as the primary focal point for field-level implementation of the Cough Syrup Surveillance Initiative across assigned districts. The position is responsible for ensuring effective execution of surveillance activities, pharmacy engagement, referral tracking, and coordination with district health systems to strengthen TB case detection and linkage to care.The role requires extensive field travel, strong implementation and coordination skills, and the ability to drive data-based action for improving program performance and outcomes.

Responsibilities

Program Implementation and Coordination• Lead implementation of the cough syrup surveillance initiative across assigned districts.• Ensure onboarding, activation, and regular engagement of mapped pharmacies under the surveillance system.• Support conversion of surveillance data into referrals for TB screening and diagnosis.• Coordinate with district and block health teams for smooth implementation of activities. Pharmacy Engagement and Support• Build and maintain relationships with pharmacists, chemist associations, and private drug retailers.• Conduct regular follow-up visits to ensure adherence to surveillance protocols and reporting mechanisms.• Support pharmacies in identifying and referring individuals with presumptive TB symptoms.• Facilitate availability and use of IEC and awareness materials at pharmacy sites. Referral Tracking and Continuum of Care• Ensure timely linkage of referred individuals to TB diagnostic and treatment services.• Track referrals through the diagnostic cascade and support treatment initiation where applicable.• Coordinate with health facilities to minimize loss to follow-up across the care continuum. Monitoring, Data Management, and Reporting• Maintain and update program trackers related to active pharmacies, referrals, diagnostic outcomes, and TB case detection.• Validate field data and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.• Conduct supportive supervision visits and identify implementation gaps for corrective action.• Prepare regular progress reports, field updates, and documentation of best practices and success stories. Capacity Building• Conduct orientation sessions and refresher trainings for pharmacists and frontline workers.• Strengthen stakeholder capacity on cough identification, referral mechanisms, and reporting processes.• Provide continuous mentoring and supportive supervision to field stakeholders. Other Responsibilities• Support district-level reviews, meetings, and coordination platforms under NTEP.• Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the Senior Program Officer to support program objectives.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related field with or without MPH/MSW/MHA or Post Graduate Diploma in public health/social work.• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in field-level public health implementation.• Experience working with NTEP at district or regional level is must.• Experience engaging with private sector stakeholders/pharmacies will be an added advantage.• Demonstrated experience in field coordination, supportive supervision, and data tracking.• Prior experience in NGO/development sector preferred.• Familiarity with local geography and public health systems in the assigned state preferred.

• Strong field implementation and coordination skills.• Ability to drive accountability and achieve program targets.• Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.• Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel for data tracking and reporting.• Ability to analyze data and use insights for program improvement.• Fluency in local language, Hindi, and English.• Willingness to travel extensively within assigned districts (70–80%).
