Job Description

Jhpiego is a global health non-profit organization and an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, dedicated to improving the health of women and families worldwide. In India, Jhpiego works closely with national and state governments to strengthen health systems and implement high-impact public health interventions, including support to the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP).

Under its TB portfolio, Jhpiego supports innovative and evidence-based interventions focused on strengthening TB screening, differentiated TB care, integration of TB services at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs), and improving patient outcomes through death review and community& facility-based verbal autopsy.

Jhpiego is hiring a Divisional Coordinator – TB to support implementation and coordination of TB interventions across a cluster of 2–3 districts under the project. The Divisional Coordinator will serve as the key field-level focal point for implementation, coordination, monitoring, and supportive supervision of project activities related to:

  • Integration of TB services at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs)
  • Differentiated TB Care
  • TB screening among vulnerable populations, including pregnant women
  • TB Death Review and Verbal Autopsy

The role requires strong coordination with district and block-level health systems, regular field monitoring, data tracking, and ensuring timely implementation of project activities in alignment with NTEP priorities.

Location:

  • Assam – 2 Positions (Guwahati & Dibrugarh)
  • Chhattisgarh – 1 Position (District TBD)

Responsibilities

  • Field-Level Implementation & Coordination
    • Coordinate implementation of project activities across assigned districts/clusters.
    • Support integration of comprehensive TB services at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs).
    • Facilitate implementation of Differentiated TB Care approaches .
    • Support district teams in operationalization of TB Death Review and Verbal Autopsy activities.
    • Ensure timely execution of planned activities in coordination with district and block health officials.

  • Coordination with Health System
    • Work closely with District TB Officers (DTOs), Medical Officers, STS/STLS, and block-level teams.
    • Facilitate coordination between district administration, health facilities, and frontline workers.
    • Support district-level review meetings and follow-up on action points.
    • Ensure alignment of project activities with routine NTEP operations and state priorities.

  • Monitoring, Supportive Supervision & Field Visits
    • Conduct regular field visits to health facilities, AAMs, and program implementation sites.
    • Provide supportive supervision to frontline workers and district teams.
    • Monitor quality and completeness of implementation activities.
    • Identify implementation bottlenecks and support timely corrective actions.

  • Data Management & Reporting
    • Maintain and update program trackers and implementation databases for assigned districts.
    • Ensure timely collection, validation, and reporting of project data.
    • Track key indicators related to TB screening, referrals, treatment linkage, death review, and differentiated care.
    • Analyze field data to identify gaps and support data-driven decision-making.
    • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of reports submitted to project and government teams.

  • Capacity Building & Training
    • Support organization of training, orientations, and refresher sessions for healthcare providers and frontline workers.
    • Build capacity of stakeholders on TB screening, differentiated care, referral mechanisms, death review, and verbal autopsy processes.
    • Provide ongoing mentoring and technical support to field teams.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Management
    • Maintain records of field activities, review meetings, and implementation progress.
    • Support documentation of success stories, best practices, and lessons learned.
    • Prepare periodic progress reports and implementation updates.

  • Problem Solving & Adaptive Implementation
    • Identify operational challenges and implementation gaps in real time.
    • Develop practical, field-driven solutions to improve program performance.
    • Provide regular feedback and recommendations to project leadership for program strengthening.

  • Other Responsibilities
    • Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the Senior Program Officer/Project Lead to support program goals.

    Required Qualifications

    Required Skills & Competencies

    • Strong coordination and field implementation skills
    • Ability to work closely with government health systems and stakeholders
    • Strong analytical and data management skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
    • Problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and reporting tools
    • Ability to manage multiple districts and travel extensively in the field (70–80%)
    • Fluency in local language, Hindi, and English

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Post Graduate/diploma degree in public health / Life Sciences / Social Sciences / Pharmacy or related field with Masters in Public Health/Social work/Health Management or post graduate diploma in health management / public health
    • 3-5 years of experience in public health program implementation
    • Prior experience working with NTEP at district or state level is must
    • Experience in data management, reporting, and field coordination preferred
    • Experience in NGO/development sector will be an advantage
    • Familiarity with local geography and public health systems
