The Prince George’s County Department of Family Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Division Manager

(Associate Director G), grade G33, in the Management Services Division.

About the Position

This is a senior level position responsible for managing the Management Services Division. The division is responsible for all fiscal, contracts, human resources, procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable and public information activities. The incumbent provides fiscal, budgetary, procurement direction, support and oversight of staff and ensures that all programmatic divisions and programs are supported.

The Department of Family Services improves the quality of life and overall well-being of the communities by providing information, assistance and referrals, as well as promoting and developing high quality, innovative programs that educate, empower, respect choice and preserve dignity. The department is responsible for providing assistance to some of the County’s most vulnerable citizens – children, families, victims of domestic violence, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans, and seniors. The department is comprised of three divisions that serve the aging and disabled, victims of domestic violence, as well as children, youth and families in need of support and resources.

Examples of duties

  • Directs staff in the administration and performance of daily fiscal, personnel, payroll, procurement and facilities management activities to ensure day-to-day delivery of quality services and programs by the Department.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director in developing and maintaining sound organizational policies, procedures and structure within the activities of the Department’s operating Administration. Ensures the effective and efficient usage of human resources, general funds and grant funding.
  • Identifies and resolves complex requests and problems related to financial, personnel, payroll, and facilities management functions, to enhance the quality and delivery of services to the Department’s clients.
  • Directs staff in the development of the annual county budget, while assuring that budget requests are reflective of Department needs and incorporate program priorities as established by the Director.
  • Directly supervises the staff of the Management Services Division.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or field closely related to assignment/functional area.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in administration and Finance; with at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.

An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO EQUIVALENCY FOR SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
