
The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry Restorative Sciences Department is seeking a(n) Assistant/Associate/Professor and Division Head of Prosthodontics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Division Head of Prosthodontics provides leadership and administrative oversight for all divisional operations, including academic and clinical activities. The Division Head ensures alignment with the mission of the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and compliance with CODA accreditation standards. This role fosters excellence in education, patient care, and service while promoting innovation, interprofessional collaboration, and professional development within the college and beyond.
The Division Head provides administrative and leadership oversight for divisional operations across prosthodontic educational and clinical programs, including pre-doctoral fixed, removable, and implantology. Responsibilities include developing and managing divisional budgets; recruiting, mentoring, managing and evaluating faculty and staff; and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and university policies.
The Division Head leads regular division meetings and conducts program meetings as appropriate. Additional responsibilities include overseeing faculty calibration activities, monitoring course director reporting on student performance, and serving on college and university committees as assigned. The Division Head leads divisional strategic planning to ensure alignment with the college’s mission and represents the division in college-wide and university-level initiatives, serving as a key advocate for prosthodontic education and clinical care.
The Division Head is responsible for the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of preclinical and clinical prosthodontic curriculum, ensuring curricular integrity and educational excellence. Duties include monitoring student didactic and clinical progress, coordinating teaching assignments, appointing and supporting course directors, delivering didactic instruction, and providing clinical supervision. Proficiency with academic and administrative platforms such as Canvas, Simple Syllabus, and Microsoft Excel is required to effectively manage these responsibilities.
The Division Head ensures the highest standards of patient care within prosthodontic clinical teaching environments and integrates evidence-based practices throughout clinical instruction. Proficiency with Axium is required, including collaboration with various teams within the college to support clinical operations, reporting, and assessment of student progress.
EDUCATION:
DDS or DMD from a CODA accredited institution or foreign equivalent and completion of Part I and Part II of National Dental Board Examinations.
Preferred: Completion of a CODA-accredited Prosthodontics residency program with a certificate in Prosthodontics or Master's degree in Prosthodontics.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice experience. Demonstrated leadership experience in academic, clinical, or administrative settings.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Must be eligible for licensure in the State of Oklahoma. Employment is contingent upon obtaining an Oklahoma dental license.
