The District Sales Manager North/South is responsible for overseeing all daily store operations of assigned stores to ensure optimum profit margins in support of the Agency’s Mission. This position reports to the CEO/CIO and supervises all Donated Goods Managers and donation sites as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Responsible for training all store management in Agency operating standards (SOP’s) including optimum staff scheduling and labor ratios, setting and achieving optimum production goals, maintaining quality processing standards and appropriate expense controls.
Responsible for analyzing store performance to identify trends. Provide regular reports on store activity, including progress and/or problems towards goal achievement. Research and recommend opportunities to maximize sales and donations per square foot.
Responsible for hiring, training and coaching all assigned store management in optimum warehouse and floor layout, merchandise quality standards, pricing guidelines, customer service standards and ensuring cross training of all retail employees.
Responsible for the overall performance of assigned stores including revenue and donation growth, expense management, and achievement of profitability goals. Prepare monthly Production Goals.
Monitor store performance against budgets and goals. Take timely action on performance that falls short of expectation.
Act as an Administrator of the POS systems, including providing access and removal of all Users at all levels. Proficient at all functions of the POS systems including programming of pricing changes, promotional activities and reporting.
Work closely with Human Resources and Workforce Development staff to ensure compliance with all California labor laws, CARF standards and Cal OSHA requirements.
Responsible for ensuring all material donors are provided an exceptional customer service experience each time they donate to Goodwill, which is conducive to increasing donor count and donor satisfaction, striving for store self-sufficiency.
Maintain store call frequency as assigned. Conduct and document store visits and audits, ensuring timely follow up on action items. Ensure uniform functioning of retail stores. Develop and maintain up-to-date work instructions (SOP’s) and productivity standards for all retail store functions.
Responsible for scheduling, supervision and oversight of assigned donation sites.
Daily management and supervision of assigned stores that operate without a store manager, to include actual assignment to the store when needed or as directed by the CEO/CIO.
Responsible for providing regular reports on store activity, including progress and/or problems towards goal achievement.
Ensure all employees complete mandatory training requirements in a timely manner and with accurate tracking,
Active participation in Agency Loss Prevention and Safety programs. Promote and ensure a safe work environment. Monitor safe operation and storage of all Agency equipment. Responsible for timely accident and incident reporting and adherence to the Agency’s safety program.
Responsible for analyzing store performance and identifying/reporting trends. Take timely action on performance that falls short of expectation.
In order to ensure achievement of the essential functions of the job duties, regular adherence to a standard work week schedule (M-F), to include some extended work hours, weekends and holidays along with frequent travel by car to multiple sites daily is required.
SECONDARY DUTIES
Assist in preparing annual budgets for assigned locations.
Coordinate and assist in expanding all Mission activities in support of Workforce Development programs and service.
Assist with special projects related to retail and donation operations such as opening or relocating stores, coordinating donation drives or other duties as may be assigned by the CEO/CIO.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required: Accredited AA degree. Years of experience in a retail environment may be substituted on a two-year for one-year basis.
Experience Required: Eight (8) years’ managerial experience as a retail store manager or above, including four (4) years management and/or supervision of multiple locations. Thrift store experience is a plus. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge Required: Principles of retail operations, customer service practices and safety and security in a retail environment. Principles of human resource management including hiring, coaching, discipline separation and conflict resolution. Principles of management and leadership including staff training and development. Advanced computer skills including document preparation and email. Effective communication, both written and verbal.
Equipment Used: Computer, laptop, calculator, cash mate machine, PDA, POS equipment and peripherals, label printer, safe, alarm system, and cellular phone with voice messaging, tagging gun, pallet jack and walk-behind power lift.

LICENSES/INSURANCE/TRANSPORATION
Must possess a valid California’s driver’s license, proof of insurance, and have access to reliable transportation.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT
Must be able to solve problems, prioritize and work well under pressure. This job requires moderate to heavy emotional effort involving high level of employee interaction with occasional maximum emotional effort required in resolving internal or external conflicts. Constant travel to assigned off-site locations.
JOB SETTING
Work environment is fast paced with high activity demands. Works a standard administrative work week including extended hours, weekend and holiday work based on business needs. Variable conditions, including semi-severe conditions ranging from 25 – 115 degrees. Travel is required to all store locations throughout the San Joaquin Valley.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift, push, and pull 35 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand and drive for long periods of time. Must be able to talk and hear in person and by telephone. Good dexterity in hands, wrists, fingers, and arms.
