QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Pennsylvania driver's license
- Previous event staff experience is PREFERRED
- Basic First Aid knowledge is PREFERRED
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and the public
- Strong and effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to generate positive public relations in a professional manner
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
JOB GOAL
To provide the District with an additional level of security to assist in maintaining a positive and safe campus atmosphere at assigned school-sponsored events (i.e. athletic events, after school events, prom, etc.) and at events held by outside organizations who rent the District's facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Actively monitors assigned area(s) to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, criminal activity, including unauthorized entry into district property or into the event
- Regularly patrols assigned area(s) of each event
- Monitors entrances to school property or to school sponsored event and ensures visitors comply with procedures for entering and properly registering their presence
- Ensures that appropriate doors are locked and not "propped open"
- Directs traffic and parking activities, as assigned
- Arrives early and remains on site until all patrons, team members, etc. have departed event
- Maintains and projects professional appearance as it relates to job performance
- Immediately summons on-site SASD Administrator for incidences involving students or student athletes; will involve local law enforcement as necessary
- Checks external lighting and reports those which are out or otherwise need repair
- Checks emergency access routes to ensure they are not blocked
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Compensation as per the rate schedule approved by the Shippensburg Area School District Board of Directors
EVALUATION
Performance of the District Event Staff will be evaluated annually by the District Safety Officer (with input from Administration as appropriate) in accordance with the expectations of this job description.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
