Examples of duties

This position oversees technical reviews and environmental planning for transportation projects across the district. The work supports responsible project development and helps maintain compliance with important environmental rules. As a District Environmental Manager, you will perform the following duties:

  • Environmental Reviews: Conduct detailed reviews of reports, plans, and analyses to ensure compliance with environmental laws and guidelines
  • Technical Guidance: Recommend solutions to engineering issues discovered in design plans and project proposals
  • Permit Coordination: Work with agencies to secure needed waterway and earth disturbance permits for construction and maintenance activities
  • Program Oversight: Support district compliance programs related to Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System and Strategic Environmental Management Program through monitoring, training, and policy development
  • Mitigation Management: Manage and review environmental mitigation commitments, including inspections and coordination with consultants

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Dunmore. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate speciality and one year of experience in directing the work of civil engineers.

Special Requirement:

  • You must be in possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.

Post Employment Requirement:

  • For the Bridges and Transportation parentheticals, successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer License issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.
