The School Board and Syracuse community have charged the Superintendent with improving student achievement, and she is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with her in moving the district toward its goals.
The Syracuse City School District represents 35 schools and programs, including 6 high schools, 6 middle schools, 6 K-8 schools, 13 elementary schools, and 4 alternative education programs, serving approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12. Of these students, 82.3% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, 20.1% are served by the Office of Special Education, and 83% are students of color.
The District Data Liaison plays a pivotal role in supporting the school district's data-driven decision-making processes. Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Testing, this position focuses on providing expert assistance in data-related activities to instructional coaches, teachers, and district leaders. The primary objective is to elevate the understanding and utilization of data, thus improving instructional practices and student outcomes. High school experience is preferred.
The responsibilities of the District Data Liaison extend beyond the school day. To maximize the time during the school day spent supporting SCSD building and other district-level instructional coaches and teachers directly, many planning and organizational tasks will need to be completed outside of regular school hours. District Data Liaisons will also be expected to attend and deliver professional development that occurs after the school day and potentially during the summer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Data Management and Analysis:
- Collaborate closely with instructional coaches, teachers, and district-level staff to develop and implement effective data analysis strategies.
- Collaborate with School Principals to ensure correct data is used to move instructional practices.
- Deliver support through professional development sessions and provide resources aligned with district priorities.
- Assist in interpreting and utilizing formative and summative assessment data for informed instructional planning.
- Instructional Coaching Excellence (Individual & Group):
- Conduct individual coaching sessions with teachers to enhance their ability to utilize data for instructional planning.
- Provide group coaching to instructional teams, fostering a culture of collaborative data analysis.
- Conduct impactful coaching cycles with individual teachers, focusing on improving student outcomes through effective analysis of assessment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to instill a culture of continuous improvement for enhanced student outcomes.
- Develop teacher capacity in utilizing evidence-based, data-driven instructional strategies.
- Expertise in Data Analysis and Utilization:
- Support teachers in comprehending, analyzing, and effectively utilizing data to ensure equitable student access to learning.
- Foster a standards-based, data-oriented culture within the district.
- Collaborate with the Office of Information Technology and Office of Teaching and Learning to provide accurate and relevant data for strategic instructional decision-making.
- Proficient in Professional Development:
- Design and deliver professional development sessions tailored to the specific needs of teachers, coaches, and district personnel.
- Actively participate in and contribute to district-wide professional development sessions.
- Lead teacher study groups and professional learning teams to enhance content and pedagogical knowledge.
- Maintain meticulous records of support provided to coaches, teachers, and leaders, documenting the quantity, duration, and type of assistance.
- Ensure timely submission of records to the supervisor as requested.
- Excel Proficiency and Data Presentation:
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, utilizing complex functions for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
- Provide training and support to district staff in developing Excel skills for efficient data management.
- Present data effectively to groups of stakeholders in a manner that is both comprehensible and impactful for student outcomes
- Report Generation and Presentation:
- Generate comprehensive reports from various data sources, presenting findings in a clear and understandable format.
- Deliver presentations to district stakeholders on data-related topics, emphasizing actionable insights.
- Data-Driven Decision Support:
- Collaborate with district leadership to provide data support for decision-making processes.
- Assist in the development of action plans/SCEP based on data insights to address instructional needs.
- Explore and recommend data analysis tools that complement existing tools for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work with district leaders to integrate data analysis tools into instructional practices.
- Fulfill any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Information Officer, Or Supervisor of Testing
- Possesses a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience.
- Demonstrates a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a teacher leader.
- Holds New York State Teacher Certification in Elementary education and/or Secondary certification areas.
- Exhibits strong organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Displays expertise in data analysis, instructional coaching, and professional development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Commits to equity in instructional quality and possesses a deep understanding of curriculum development.
The District Data Liaison role requires proficiency in data management tools, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to communicate data insights effectively to diverse groups, ultimately influencing positive student outcomes.
SALARY: As per Unit 1 Salary, starting at $53,000; will be adjusted with previous experience
