DISTRICT COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

12-MONTH POSITION

JOB GOAL:

The District Communications Specialist works to implement the district's communication plan and strategies to enhance the relationship between the district and staff, students, parents, and community via a variety of outreach methods. This position develops and distributes district communications in print and electronic formats; serves as a contact for news media, staff and the public; and assists in managing projects and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, technology, marketing, visual communications, English, design or related field.
  • At least three (3) years minimum work experience in the field of marketing and media, communications, technology, or graphic design working for both print and online channels.
  • Strong oral and written communication and editing, including correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Understanding of a variety of technology, media, marketing. and communication hardware and software configurations, including the web and common social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of best practices in marketing, communications, community relations and public affairs.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively communicates and understands job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
  • Successfully completes the required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
