Job Description

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Upholds a customer service level that ensures every attempt is made to meet the following internal and external customer needs: friendliness, understanding and empathy, fairness, options and alternatives, and information.
  • Monitors and acknowledges orders via on-line ordering system.
  • Receives incoming calls. Handles all communication in courteous and professional manner.
  • Classifies and processes orders according to urgency. Arranges for appropriate transportation.
  • Accurately selects and processes units requiring product modification. Performs irradiation processing when required.
  • Stock products in an orderly manner when released to inventory. Stocks and reorganizes other products/supplies as required. Inspects and appropriately handles inventory returned from customers.
  • Performs equipment checks and maintain equipment. Prepares and maintains blood shipment boxes.
  • Manages incoming specimens: assist internal customers with transportation needs, inquiries and requests, where possible.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records.
  • Facilitates interstate shipments, including shipping documentation and entry of imported units into the computer system
  • Manage nonconforming product/unsuitable product for example, recalls, quarantine, unsuitable returns, according to applicable procedures.
  • Accurately selects units and packs orders to maintain acceptable temperatures for shipment. Performs visual inspection of units prior to shipment. Ships miscellaneous transfusion supplies. Ships biohazard orders appropriately.
  • Appropriately responds to all alarms.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Exemplifies CBC’s Customer Service Mission and Core Values.

Other Functions:

  • Attend departmental staff meetings.
  • Attend all applicable in-house training.
  • Participate in other meetings and committees as requested by your Supervisor.
  • Makes recommendations to improve organizational processes.
  • Will be required to follow the dress code regulations of the department.
  • Any related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Previous experience in customer service or performing duties in a related area.

Licenses / Certifications:

Must complete and maintain U.S. Department Of Transportation: Hazmat Transportation Security awareness training.

Knowledge:

FDA, CLIA, OSHA regulations.

AABB standards.

All applicable CBC procedures.

Inventory Management, for example, First In First Out, inventory rotations etc.

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent customer service skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent computer skills.

Strong attention to detail in all work processes.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of complex issues and situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of staff up to and including executive leadership.

Ability to communicate clearly and with authority, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one or small group settings.

Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and customers in a helpful, courteous and friendly manner while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.

This position is responsible for taking orders for blood products, services and commercially prepared plasma derivatives. Prepares orders for delivery. Performs final product inspection prior to shipment. Assists with the organization of inventory. Assure the compliance of the Distribution Department with CBC's quality system requirements.
