Temperature Control Division

Position: Operations Manager, Inbound

Position is responsible for all aspects of inbound receiving, quality, inventory put-away, consolidation, and replenishment in a Distribution Center environment. This is a first shift position, but will coordinate and report out on daily activities for the first and second shifts. This individual will lead in a team-based environment, while ensuring effective movement of product to satisfy external and internal customers. Manage, coach, and coordinate activities of supervision team members to ensure proper application of safety and quality procedures and policies.

Essential Functions:
• Manage all receiving, quality, compliance, put-away, consolidation, and replenishment efforts within the DC.
◦ Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly workload along with supervision to determine staffing requirements
◦ Work with Department managers to ensure headcount needs and equipment are balanced.
◦ Balance workload within the department based on priority and headcount
◦ Assign duties and responsibilities for team members
◦ Track and report on the efficiencies of each department
• Prepare work schedules to expedite flow of inbound trucks for delivery as well as product movement to the warehouse
• Review departmental performance and metrics and take action to meet expectations and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain essential full-time headcount to meet the in-season and off-season demands
• Ensure implementation and effectiveness of new hire training and cross-training; train on SOPs, revisions, metrics and workflow for the departments
• Ensure implementation of training is effective and timely; provide feedback and follow-up with training documentation
• Ensure team members are trained to safely operate material handling equipment without damage to product, structure, equipment, self and other team members
• Monitor all accidents and incidents and investigate to provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Ensure team understands customer requirements and any expedited orders or special needs.
• Ensure overall quality and accuracy of inbound paperwork. Issue corrective actions for non-compliant loads.
• Notify customer service, packaging, product management, transportation, quality or other functional areas of issues affecting deliveries and departmental capabilities.
• Demonstrate positive leadership practices including setting clear goals with team members and providing regular constructive feedback; complete annual performance evaluations.
• Maintain positive employee environment; resolve conflicts, problems, and concerns as they occur

Other Responsibilities:
• Performs other work-related duties as required by management

Job Qualifications/Skills:
• Bachelors or Associates degree preferred but not required. Demonstrable technical aptitude or related experience or training is required.
• Minimum 5 years experience in warehouse supervision.
• Experience in operating material handling equipment, warehouse management systems (WMS), and yard management systems (YMS)
• Good project management skills such as ability to prioritize and manage time.
• Self-directed individual who has demonstrated ability to coach for performance
• Computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong business sense, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and metric concepts
• Self-motivated individual willing and able to take initiative as well as work in team environment
• Ability to lift 40 lbs
• Other physical demands: standing and walking; occasional bending/stooping; exposed to hot, cold and dust
• May require occasional work during seasonal demands on alternate shifts, including evening and weekends.
