This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Distribution Project Manager for our Power & Energy Program Management Team in Fort Worth and Dallas, TX Metroplex region with the ability to travel to a WSP and/or Client office for periodic face-to-face meetings. This is currently a Hybrid role requiring office attendance three (3) days a week in Fort Worth, TX. Remote work would be available for the remainder of the week, but there is potential for this role to change based on client preferences.
Provides project management leadership for the development, execution, management, control, and monitoring of Power Delivery Distribution projects. This position is accountable for monitoring technical execution, schedules, financial performance, quality, safety, and client satisfaction on projects of moderate size, complexity, and regional scope. This role plays a key part in advancing WSP’s program delivery excellence by developing and implementing lifecycle project management systems, optimizing stakeholder engagement, and aligning operational execution with client and organizational objectives. The position supports decision-making through technical and strategic advisory while also guiding cross-functional teams to achieve superior performance in schedule, budget, risk, and quality.
Your Impact
- Establish, coordinate, and implement program delivery plans that align with WSP’s corporate goals and client expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for project delivery, proactively identifying issues, driving decisions, escalating risks, and ensuring alignment with client expectations, contractual requirements, and WSP standards.
- Lead client engagement and relationship development through proactive communication, issue resolution, strategic alignment, and consistent delivery of high-quality project outcomes.
- Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including but not limited to, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, environmental, permitting, vendors, contractors, and client stakeholders.
- Oversee the development and enforcement of governance frameworks, project delivery standards, and escalation procedures.
- Ensure integration of scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality management across all components of the program.
- Conduct detailed analysis of project performance metrics and lead root cause analyses for schedule delays or budget overruns.
- Support senior-level engagement with clients and external partners through strategic program input and coordination.
- Coordinate interdependencies between multiple projects to ensure coherent delivery and mitigate potential risks.
- Develop and implement robust risk and opportunity management frameworks across all phases of the program lifecycle.
- Provide input to contract negotiations, change order management, and claims mitigation strategies.
- Mentor project managers, assistant project managers, and project team members by sharing best practices, identifying training needs, providing career development guidance, reinforcing accountability, and supporting consistent project delivery across the program.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging high-performance team culture across internal and partner organizations.
- Champion continuous improvement efforts and drive process innovation in program management tools and methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout program delivery.
- Participate in strategic pursuits, including preparation of program-specific materials for proposals and interviews.
- Represent WSP in client-facing meetings and industry forums as a program manager.
- Track earned value, cost to complete, and forecasted program outcomes using industry-standard software platforms.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field within the Power & Energy market; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of relevant post-education experience, including significant project management responsibility within the Power Delivery, transmission, substation, utility, or related infrastructure industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing medium to large, complex transmission line and/or substation projects for electric utility clients, including investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, independent power producers, or similar organizations.
- Proven ability to lead multiple concurrent projects or a portfolio of related projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, risk, client satisfaction, and overall delivery performance.
- Advanced understanding of utility project delivery, including engineering, procurement, permitting, environmental coordination, construction readiness, outage coordination, commissioning, closeout, and client reporting requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of project controls practices, including CPM schedule management, cost forecasting, earned value management, change management, risk management, invoice review, and financial performance tracking.
- Experience developing and maintaining project governance tools and documentation, including project execution plans, risk registers, decision logs, action item trackers, change logs, QA/QC records, and audit-ready project files.
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships at a senior project level, communicate effectively with client representatives and leadership, resolve issues proactively, and support long-term account and program objectives.
- Experience leading, coordinating, and influencing multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, project controls, procurement, construction, environmental, permitting, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
- Ability to provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to project managers, assistant project managers, and project team members while reinforcing accountability, consistency, and adherence to project management best practices.
- Advanced analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess project performance, anticipate risks, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical solutions aligned with project and business objectives.
- Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to manage project financials, protect margin, support change recovery, evaluate commercial impacts, and make sound decisions involving company funds and client commitments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear project reports, executive summaries, client communications, meeting materials, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and project management tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint, Primavera P6 or equivalent scheduling tools, and related project controls or reporting systems.

- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, adapt to changing project needs, and maintain accountability in a fast-paced utility project environment.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

- Ability to travel periodically to WSP offices, client offices, project sites, or other locations as required by project and business needs.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $119,600 - $213,200
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $111,200 - $186,100
