Job Description

The Distribution Operations Manager is responsible for leading all outbound distribution activities at the Memphis Distribution Center, including order picking, packing, and shipping operations. This role ensures customer orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and on time while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, productivity, and customer service. The successful candidate will lead teams across multiple shifts, optimize operational performance, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to support business objectives and customer satisfaction.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Lead daily outbound distribution operations across pick, pack, and ship functions, ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and shipped according to established service commitments.
  • Balance labor resources and staffing levels to meet operational demands, productivity goals, business volume, and customer requirements.
  • Monitor operational workflows, identify and eliminate process bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, quality, and operational performance.
  • Provide leadership and direction to supervisors, team leads, and distribution associates, including performance management, coaching, employee development, and career growth.
  • Drive employee engagement and accountability through key performance indicators, operational metrics, effective onboarding, training, and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Coordinate outbound transportation activities, manage carrier performance, maintain shipping schedules, and support freight optimization initiatives to improve service and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all domestic and international shipping requirements and regulations while promoting a culture of safety, operational excellence, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Experience leading leaders, including supervisors, team leads, and frontline associates in a distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
  • Experience overseeing high-volume operational workflows and meeting customer service requirements.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), enterprise resource planning systems (ERP), and distribution technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret operational data and drive informed decisions.
  • Experience managing labor planning, productivity metrics, and operational performance indicators.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a safety-focused environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Experience in a large-scale distribution center environment.
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards (JDE) enterprise software.
  • Experience working with warehouse automation technologies and material handling systems.
  • Understanding of domestic and international shipping practices and transportation operations.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Experience managing carrier relationships, freight optimization programs, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and operational reporting.
