Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for:
- Collaborating with leadership to execute overall logistical strategies ensuring alignment with competitive business strategy.
- Leading the distribution teams while effectively coaching and training Distribution Supervisors.
- Ensuring effective performance management and talent management strategies are in place and followed.
- Collaboratively developing and executing specific technical training to ensure Supervisor and driver skill levels are in line with company expectations.
- Ensuring all direct reports understand, cascade, and achieve the distribution goals and key metrics utilizing the Individual Operating Plans developed for each direct report.
- Ensuring timely and accurate completion of all KOIs, forecasts and other reporting requirements.
- Approaching work with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset to identify, value, prioritize, resource and sustain improvement opportunities.
- Participating in development of and executing Annual Operating Plan (AOP), capital plan and productivity initiatives.
- Ensuring optimization and proper handling for all distribution and fleet assets ensuring proper maintenance.
- Owning the Safety Culture, ensuring a safe work environment and that employees use safe work methods and proper safety behaviors.
- Ensuring execution of Model Dairy standard operating processes.
- Ensuring proper employee relations culture and programs are in place.
- Coordinating service activity with Sales and Key Account Managers.
- Communicating with distributors regarding day-to-day delivery and other activities.
- Coordinating the support needs of distributors with other departments (sales, credit, order entry, plant, etc.).
- Recommending capital expenditures to Senior Management for fleet. Prepares business proposals.
- Staying informed and promoting all Company policies and procedures.
- Promoting and maintaining Company goodwill in all areas. Assists others and performs other tasks as appropriate and/or necessary. Helps maintain the positive image of the Company in the trade.
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory (OSHA, DOT, EPA) requirements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3-5 years’ managerial distribution, transportation or logistics experience. Experience should include research and cost reporting procedures, budgeting, inventory control as well experience in routing software, GPS systems and routing optimization.
- Strong DSD (direct store delivery) background.
- Experience with handheld computers, ASN, SBT, Scanning, and other store receiving platforms.
- Proficient in use of MS Office Suite.
- Project management skills.
- Financial skills to develop analysis and budgets.
- Regulatory knowledge in applicable federal, state and local guidelines (DOT, OSHA, DMV)
- Valid Class A Driver License with good driving record.
- Strong ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with all levels of employees.
- Strong sense of ownership and urgency.
Preferred:
- BA/BS degree.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Working knowledge of Employee Health & Safety Practices.
