Job Description

The Distribution Lead supports the day-to-day operations of the distribution facility, ensuring smooth, efficient, and accurate order processing. This role involves assisting with the supervision and training of associates, overseeing inventory control, managing the distribution processes from receiving to shipping, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. The Distribution Lead collaborates with various departments, including Customer Service, to maintain facility appearance, manage shipments, and address operational issues. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of providing leadership in a dynamic environment. This role reports to the Distribution Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Oversee daily distribution operations, including order processing, inventory movement, shipping, and receiving.
  • Assist with opening and closing the facility and ensure seamless shift transitions.
  • Lead and support distribution associates by providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Ensure associates follow procedures for order management, tagging, putaway, packaging, and returns.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular audits, inventory tracking, and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, vendors, and carriers to address shipment issues, process returns, and manage carrier claims.
  • Monitor packaging practices to minimize freight costs and prevent product damage.
  • Conduct weekly productivity and accuracy audits of distribution associates.
  • Submit process improvement suggestions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and security protocols.
  • Support facility maintenance, including interior and exterior appearance and associate presentation.
  • Provide accurate and timely inventory reports and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Strong knowledge of Order Management Systems (OMS) and warehouse management processes.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, provide training, and resolve operational and personnel issues.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure during peak periods and manage shifting priorities.
  • Understanding of inventory management and shrinkage control best practices.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in a distribution setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • 2+ years of leadership experience in a fulfillment, distribution, or warehouse environment.
  • Strong Excel skills for reporting and inventory tracking.
  • Experience improving operational workflows and distribution processes.
  • Ability to manage carrier relationships and claims processing efficiently.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and committed to continuous improvement.
