and Description:

EPRI is seeking a Distribution Infrastructure Technical Leader II to support research, testing, and evaluation activities focused on overhead electric distribution systems. This role will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that improve the reliability, performance, and resilience of utility infrastructure, including poles, conductors, connectors, and associated distribution assets. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams to design experiments, evaluate asset performance, analyze degradation mechanisms, and communicate research findings to industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing & Evaluation

  • Support the testing and performance evaluation of overhead distribution system components, including poles, conductors, connectors, and related infrastructure.

  • Develop, assemble, and execute experimental test setups to support research objectives and project goals.

  • Collect, validate, and interpret testing data to assess equipment performance and reliability.

Technical Analysis

  • Analyze material performance, aging characteristics, and degradation mechanisms affecting utility assets.

  • Investigate asset condition, failure trends, and reliability concerns to support utility decision-making.

  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to solve technical challenges associated with distribution infrastructure.

Asset Reliability & Inspection Support

  • Support the development and evaluation of inspection methodologies for utility assets.

  • Participate in asset condition assessments and reliability studies focused on distribution system equipment.

  • Assist in identifying best practices and emerging technologies to enhance asset management programs.

Documentation & Communication

  • Prepare technical reports, research documentation, and project deliverables.

  • Present technical findings to project teams, utility members, and industry stakeholders as appropriate.

  • Contribute to technical papers, presentations, and client-facing communications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 3–8 years of relevant engineering, testing, research, or utility industry experience.

  • Familiarity with utility distribution infrastructure and associated equipment.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with utility pole design, conductor systems, or material testing.

  • Background in field inspections, asset condition assessments, or utility asset management.

  • Laboratory testing and experimental research experience.

  • Strong technical writing, presentation, and documentation skills.

  • Experience working with electric utilities, research organizations, or engineering consulting firms.

Work Environment:

The salary range for this position is $130,000 USD to $145,000 USD annually.This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
