Position Summary

The Distribution Center Coordinator supports the safe, accurate, and timely flow of materials and finished goods within a fast-paced Tier 1 automotive supply environment. This role coordinates daily warehouse activities, monitors performance, maintains inventory and transaction integrity, and works cross-functionally to meet customer delivery, quality, cost, and service expectations.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in a customer-focused tier 1 automotive distribution operation, contribute to continuous improvement, and collaborate with teams across the supply chain.

Responsibilities

Key Operational Scope

  • Shipping and receiving.
  • Material handling, storage, and inventory control.
  • Order fulfillment, picking, packing, and packaging.
  • Returnable packaging management.
  • Inventory records, billing support, and transaction accuracy.
  • Inbound and outbound transportation coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily distribution center activities to support safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives.
  • Partner with the Distribution Center Manager and Supervisor to organize workflow, assign priorities, and support team members.
  • Assume designated supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Manager or Supervisor.
  • Promote a positive, accountable safety culture and model expected workplace behaviors.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, prepare operational reports, and communicate performance trends.
  • Ensure accurate and timely SAP or ERP transactions, cycle counts, inventory records, and financial controls.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to meet customer schedules and automotive delivery requirements.
  • Maintain customer returnable packaging records, balances, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Investigate operational issues, apply structured problem-solving methods, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support compliance with the Quality and Environmental Management Systems, including internal audits and document control.
  • Lead or participate in continuous-improvement projects using SQD, lean, and waste-reduction principles.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, customer service, sales, transportation, and customer contacts to improve service and resolve issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support distribution center objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field, or at least five years of relevant experience in distribution, warehousing, logistics, supply chain, or transportation. and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced, customer-driven operation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting a Tier 1 automotive supplier or automotive customer account.
  • Experience with SAP or another enterprise resource planning system.
  • Knowledge of automotive customer requirements, quality systems, lean principles, and continuous-improvement methods.
  • Experience with KPI reporting, cycle counting, internal auditing, document control, or returnable packaging management.
