Job Description

Distribution and Collection Specialist – Raw Water

The starting pay rate for this position is $40.01 followed by an increase to $42.01 after six months.

As a Distribution and Collection Specialist, you'll help our Raw Water Operations team by safely operating, inspecting, and maintaining our Local Water Collection System and associated infrastructure around the Pikes Peak Region. The work that you do will ensure our community's continued access to some of the safest and cleanest drinking water in the United States.

What Else Will You be Doing?

  • Performing operational flow changes on raw water systems (e.g., diversions, intakes, pipelines)
  • Providing relief operations on our watersheds (e.g., reservoir levels, creek/stream flows, piezometers, seep weirs, pipelines)
  • Coordinating system changes to comply with state and federal regulations (water quality, water rights, and public safety)
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on reservoir dams - and meeting dam inspection schedules and criteria

Please note that our Raw Water Operations team is provides critical and essential operations for Colorado Springs, and the successful candidate will need to be comfortable with operating on a flexible working schedule.

Who You Are

  • Demonstrated experience with operating and maintaining water systems
  • Possession of a Water Distribution I and II license is valued
  • Basic knowledge of hydrology principles
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required
  • Experience in groundskeeping is valued
  • Ability to operate specialized equipment, vehicles, and hand tools
  • Ability to work in remote locations

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Exerts 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. Positions in this class typically require exposure in all weather conditions.
