About the role / Key Responsibilities

We are recruiting for two (2) new roles to join and work with our dynamic and fast paced Disputes + Litigation team..

Areas of experience:

• Manage debt and asset recovery matters for national and international clients, including breach of contract and enforcement of guarantees and indemnities across Australian jurisdictions
• Motor vehicle insurance litigation, including recovery, settlement negotiations and some fraud-related matters, advising national insurers across Australia

For both roles, the key responsibilities include:

• Work closely with the Head of Disputes + Litigation to continue to grow and enhance the practice group
• Work closely and collaboratively with team members of the Disputes + Litigation team as well as other teams across Law Squared
• Manage the retention of clients including engaging and nurturing these relationships
• Actively work with the Disputes + Litigation team to execute the team goals and achieve the targets in line with Law Squared Strategic Plan
• Participate in client acquisition and retention strategies and activities on behalf of the Disputes + Litigation team

People development and management

• Work with your team members and support, train and mentor to enable a consistent quality and style in the Law Squared way and support the development of team members
• Support with the review and improvement of the service offerings and solutions including the ways of working, proposals, knowledge sharing and the use of technology
• Assist with onboarding of new team members

Client experience

• Deliver legal services in the Law Squared way, providing a consistent, quality service
• Manage, nurture and grow our clients by developing strong, trusted, empathetic relationships with them
• Where requested, act as an effective point of contact for clients

Team targets

About you

The ideal candidates:

We are looking for two Disputes + Litigation lawyers ready to join an innovative and compelling alternative to the traditional firm. The ideal candidates will:

• Have 6+ PQE;
• Have experience in (at least two of the following areas):
• Motor vehicle insurance litigation, including recovery, settlement negotiations and some fraud-related matters, advising national insurers across Australia;
• general debt and asset recovery litigation including acting for financiers, recovery agents, debt collection firms and national corporate recovery clients; and/or
• Have worked with national clients on recovery matters, breach of contract, and enforcement of guarantees and indemnities;
• Insolvency litigation, including conducting winding up and creditor’s petition proceedings and assisting trustees or liquidators with recovery action (e.g. voidable transactions); and/or
• Insurance litigation, including settlements and recovery, and general advice on policy or indemnity;
• Have great attention to detail;
• Have the ability to work in a team environment and collaborate where necessary;
• Autonomously manage and progress files;
• Have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to engage with clients;
• Be comfortable working in a technology-enabled legal environment and open to adopting new tools, platforms and ways of working; and
• Supervise junior and/or graduate lawyers.
