In this role as Display Engineer Avionics, you will take end-to-end ownership of optical subsystems within innovative display projects from concept to production.
Your responsibilities
You design, develop, and industrialize optical solutions for display applications, ensuring quality, performance, and cost targets are met.
You define specifications and concepts for optical subsystems (LCD, backlight, LED, etc.).
You design, simulate, and implement optical solutions.
You test, debug, and validate system performance (colorimetry, photometry).
You work in a hands-on lab/darkroom environment.
You contribute to developments in LCD and backlight technologies.
You conduct optics studies, research, and characterization.
You translate emerging technologies into practical product solutions.
You support and improve existing products.
You manage obsolescence challenges.
You ensure reliable and cost-effective solutions throughout the lifecycle.
You transfer designs to production.
You support manufacturing and resolve technical issues.
You work in line with development processes and design best practices.
You act as the technical owner of your subsystem.
You collaborate with project managers, customers and international suppliers for technical discussions and alignment.
You are an active contributor within the R&D development team.
You report to the R&D manager.
Your profile
You hold a master’s degree in Engineering, in optics or applied physics or equivalent by experience.
You have experience with optics in display technology / LED / light systems.
Knowledge of colorimetry, photometry, light behavior is a nice plus.
You have affinity with other disciplines (mechanics, electronics, software, firmware, procurement, …).
You have hands-on experience with testing and validation and have a hands-on mindset. You enjoy building and testing yourself.
You are familiar with tools such as Matlab- and Eldim UMaster.
You have a high level of intellectual affectivity and flexibility.
You have analytical skills.
You have problem solving skills.
You are fluent in English.
