Join the Logan Health Communication Center as a PRN Dispatcher and play an important role in supporting hospital safety, emergency response, and daily operations. This position is ideal for someone who stays calm under pressure, communicates clearly, and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

As a Dispatcher, you will answer priority calls, coordinate responses to code events and alarms, monitor security systems, and help ensure the right resources are dispatched quickly and accurately.

Qualifications

  • Computer proficiency required, as demonstrated through pre-employment CritiCall Public Safety Dispatcher testing. Testing includes typing, general medical terminology, ten-key data entry, and proofreading.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-stress work environment, including hospital responses to critical code calls, required.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple inputs during critical calls required.
  • Experience working with multifaceted technology, including telephones, computers, and specialized software programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and ability to prioritize work effectively.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to act with integrity, kindness, and empathy.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality as needed.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in healthcare, fire, EMS, or law enforcement dispatching.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Understanding of confidentiality laws related to the provider-patient relationship, including HIPAA guidelines.

What You’ll Do

  • Answer priority line calls and initiate responses for code events, alarm activations, and other requests.
  • Gather complete information to determine urgency and dispatch the appropriate security, maintenance, and/or medical response.
  • Follow emergency procedures and make appropriate notifications according to department guidelines.
  • Continuously monitor security and maintenance radio channels, alarm panels, surveillance cameras, and electronic security systems.
  • Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming administrative calls seeking assistance.
  • Use computer-aided systems, telephones, databases, and maps to communicate and coordinate effectively.
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams and stakeholders to gather and share important information.
  • Coordinate available resources to improve responses to routine and emergency calls.
  • Maintain and modify on-call schedules for associated departments and clinics accurately and timely.
  • Identify areas of concern and make recommendations for process improvements to leadership.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Must be willing to work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed to keep the department staffed appropriately. Rotation of on call availability with other staff may be required.

PRN positions (also referred to as Casual, As Needed, or Per Diem) at Logan Health offer flexibility and are designed to provide coverage during busy periods, employee absences, and vacations, making them an excellent opportunity to support the team as needed. PRN employees can participate in a matching 401(k) plan and have access to the Employee Assistance Program. Additionally, they may qualify for hourly differential pay for certain shifts or hours, offering extra compensation based on department-specific scheduling needs.Pay rates and scheduling practices may vary by department.
