Location: Serving Silver Lake Regional School District and Pembroke Public Schools
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 5:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay: $26.00 per hour
Additional Hours: Some after-hours support may be required as needed

First Student is now hiring a Dispatcher to support our operations serving Silver Lake Regional School District and Pembroke Public Schools

This is a fast-paced role where no two days are exactly the same. You will help coordinate daily transportation operations, communicate with drivers and monitors, respond to schedule changes, handle phone and radio traffic, and support the team through the many moving pieces that come with student transportation.

What You’ll Do

As a Dispatcher, you will help manage the daily flow of transportation operations. You will be one of the key communication points between drivers, monitors, operations leadership, and school district partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Dispatch buses and support on-time route performance
  • Oversee daily routes and bus scheduling
  • Monitor route coverage and help resolve service issues
  • Handle heavy phone and radio traffic
  • Communicate with drivers, monitors, operations staff, and contracted customers
  • Counsel and coach drivers and monitors as needed
  • Receive scheduling concerns, driver concerns, and customer issues and escalate them to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager
  • Serve as a primary communication liaison with contracted school district partners
  • Help resolve drop-off and pick-up concerns
  • Assist with charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll as needed
  • Support back-up driver duties or miscellaneous clerical duties as needed
  • Complete assigned special projects
  • Assist with supervision of day-to-day operations
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operation

Dispatcher Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous terminal operations, dispatch, or driver experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work some after-hours as needed
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
