SCOPE
Responsible for the operation of the Oklahoma City Housing Authority dispatch center. Receives incoming calls, dispatches officers, monitors radio traffic, and provides notifications to leadership as appropriate. Documents all interactions in the electronic records management and dispatch system. Actively monitors OCHA security cameras and assists employees with access control issues as required. Coordinates notifications to leadership, law enforcement, and other emergency personnel as needed. Must be able to remain calm and provide direction in sometimes tense emergency situations.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsible to the Chief of Security through assigned supervisors.
DUTIES
Actively engages with and creates a positive rapport with OCHA staff and residents. Receives calls concerning crimes, emergencies, maintenance, and other requests for service. Monitors fire and security alarm systems, Monitors and operates OCHA camera and access control systems. Displays ethical and professional behavior in working with staff, residents, and the community. Coordinates notifications in the event of an emergency. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:
High School Diploma, or equivalent. Good telephone voice and a general knowledge of filing systems. Appropriate clerical, typing and computer skills. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public and exercise a high degree of judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents. Ability to retain proprietary information confidentially. Ability to comply with Authority attendance policies.
PREFERRED:
Previous dispatch or office experience.
PHYSICAL:
Ability to read and write correspondence, read ledgers, and work with computerized reports, code books, plans, maintain logs, and enter data in the computer. Ability to communicate clearly with others by telephone, radio and in person. Requires prolonged sitting and bending. Must be able to work evening or night shift. All physical requirements are evaluated based on the ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations under the ADA.

The Oklahoma City Housing Authority (OCHA) exists to fulfill its mission of providing affordable, decent, safe and sanitary housing or housing assistance with quality environments and opportunities to low or fixed income residents of Oklahoma City.
OCHA has several housing programs that assist in fulfilling our mission. OCHA owns and operates 2,920 Public Housing Apartments that are directly subsidized by HUD. In addition to the Public Housing Program, OCHA administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program which is also funded by HUD. Our Housing Choice Voucher Program provides 4,696 vouchers used by low-income families to cover a portion of the monthly rent for privately owned apartments or homes. In total, OCHA provides 7,616 units of low-income assisted housing in all areas of Oklahoma City.
