The incumbent is responsible for the timely and efficient movement of Canadian National Transportation Limited (CNTL) Owner-Operators and CN equipment to meet customer expectations. The incumbent oversees truck productivity to ensure optimal truck utilization and performance to key metrics. The position liaises with Customer Service, Terminal Operations, and Rail Planning to ensure efficient coordination. The role plans proactively to meet on-time performance metrics in a cost-effective manner.
·Ensure moves to trucks are assigned accordingly
·Oversee Dispatch board’s fluidity to maintain constant monitoring and re-planning as required including ensuring cost-effective on-time performance
·Answer incoming calls from CNTL Drivers and solve problems, ensuring key metrics are met
·Resolve any operational and delivery problems that require immediate attention in a professional and effective manner.
·Understand, interpret, and ensure adherence to applicable Canadian and US DOT trucking regulations
·Monitor metrics and find solutions to reduce customer wait time, terminal wait time, moves per load and outside cartage utilization
·Ensure discipline exceptions are identified and resolved to reduce costs as well as improve the supply chain for further efficiency
·Oversee tool plans, changing live load and unload to drop, create equipment pools, preload lists, file empty miles, liaise with customers to find optimal appointment windows including supply trucks to shunt.
·Ensure all loads and empties have executable appointments
·Communicate with customers to arrange pick-up and delivery appointments
·Rebook delivery appointments with customers when exceptions occur
·Ensure key metrics are met
·Collaborate with Driver Managers to ensure fleet sizing is correct
·Order outside cartage from approved companies
·Confirm swamping requirements are ordered and met
·Coordinate with Terminal to ensure loads are preloaded on chassis, pad plans are correct to achieve customer delivery appointments, decongestion plans, and problem-solving including missing bills and gate reporting issues
·Liaise with Customer Service as issues arise during pick-up or delivery, on-time metrics, and move priorities
·Communicate with Rail Planning to ensure correct reservations are applied, customer priorities are met, and recovery trucking is executed when required
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a varying 24-hour shift work from Monday to Sunday and is eligible to participate in CN’s hybrid work model. The role involves managing priorities and delivering work within established timelines, with support from the team to ensure sustainable and effective workload management.
Transportation and Logistics
·Between 3 to 5 years of experience in the Transportation and Logistics industry
·Candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
·Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
·Candidates with equivalent practical experience, education or training will be considered
·Excellent written and oral communication skills
·Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
·Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
·Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks
