Schedule: Thursday thru Monday

Role of the Dispatch Supervisor

Provides day-to-day supervision of the collection services routing to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assures compliance of RouteWare application including Route completion, sequencing of stops, comments, route changes, missed customers, and addresses all issues, including coaching and disciplining drivers.
  • Coaches drivers on DriveCam incidents.
  • Directs Operations Supervisors on specific recurring issues in the field.
  • Manages attendance issues with drivers including tardiness, missed meal periods, and unexcused absences through coaching and disciplinary action to include Overtime and reassignment pay.
  • Reviews Post and Pre-Trip Books with Drivers and addresses issues.
  • Addresses any Department of Transportation (DOT) issues with drivers.
  • Ensures the accountability of route completion by assigning additional work as drivers check in.
  • Investigates and resolves City generated 311 customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Supervises Route Maintenance Specialists role, including scheduling, hiring and discipline. Provides back up to job functions as needed.
  • Analyzes routes and makes routing changes including day and service level changes. Makes rate adjustments to resolve billing disputes.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are followed in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
  • Partners cross-functionally with other departments to keep account records updated and resolve customer issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver's license required.
  • Commercial Class A or Class B license required within 6 months of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience supervising non-exempt working operations, ideally commercial drivers.
  • Principles of employee training, supervision and evaluation.
  • Supervisory techniques, resource allocation, planning and budgeting.
