YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)
The Dishwasher is an all-around team player, from cleaning to restocking dishes, while giving a helping hand where it is needed. This position is made for a hard worker who loves a clean and organized work area and wants to be part of a dynamic culinary team at an exciting new restaurant concept.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
- Ensure that items are properly cleaned and stored
- Organize plates and glassware
- Collect soiled dishes from dining areas and transport them to the kitchen
- Mop stockrooms and report any hazardous situations to the kitchen or maintenance manager
- Knowledge and consistent use of SNHD regulations and standards
- Communicate effectively with Back of the House staff
- Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively in a team
- Consistently maintain a clean and safe work area for self and other team members
- Strong communication skills with all team members
- Find solutions before problems arise
- Comply with all safety and health department procedures, keeping kitchens clean, organized and sanitary
- Able to change direction and work on multiple project aspects at once as needed
- Execute proper health and safety protocols while operating equipment, handling food, storing food, maintaining temperature & time control logs, and sanitizing as dictated by the SNHD
- Report health and safety incidents and concerns directly to leadership in an accurate and timely manner
- Contribute to successful SNHD health inspections
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Must be physically present at work, in order to perform all functions required of the position
- Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds and smoke
- Always communicate effectively with customers and all levels of employees
- Review and comprehend all necessary documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned
WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
- Ability to move quickly and efficiently through the kitchen and dish area
- Work environment is noisy; must constantly receive and communicate information
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Manual dexterity to safely operate cleaning tools, chemicals, and dish machinery
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
MUST HAVE'S
- Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written English
- Active SNHD Food Handler's card with a minimum of six months before expiration
- Previous dishwashing, stewarding, or similar back-of-house experience preferred
- Ability to work a flexible schedule
- Move effectively and efficiently throughout work areas
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
- Lift, pull, push and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Stand for periods of 8-10 hours
- Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
- Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
- Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, and sound, with frequent exposure to water, steam, and cleaning chemicals. Incumbents are at times subject to related hazards; proper safety precautions will be taken
