  • Location: Anacortes, WA/ Onsite
  • Schedule: Per Diem / Variable
  • Salary Range: $18.62 – $57.67 per hour

Shift Differentials:

    • Night Differential - $2.75
    • Evening Differential - $2.25
    • Weekend Differential - $1.50

The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary dishwashing area, operating dishwashing equipment, washing and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, and supporting meal service operations. This position assists with patient tray service, catering support, and other food service activities as assigned while following food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.

The Dishwasher provides support to the Food Services team, including the Director of Food Services, Dietitians, Lead Cook, and other department staff to ensure efficient and safe food service operations

What you will be doing:

  • Operates and maintains the dish machine, including proper setup, monitoring, and cleaning.
  • Washes, sanitizes, and stores dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Inspects cleaned items for proper sanitation and places items in designated storage areas.
  • Handles clean and soiled dishes, utensils, and equipment in a sanitary manner to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Cleans and maintains dishwashing areas, kitchen work areas, equipment, and other assigned areas.
  • Cleans catering items and equipment following meetings and events.
  • Supports patient meal service activities, including running and passing patient trays as assigned.
  • Monitors and records temperatures of dish machines, refrigerators, and other equipment as required.
  • Assists kitchen staff with food service tasks and other departmental needs.
  • Follows food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and workplace safety guidelines.
  • Participates in department meetings, training, and in-service education.
  • Communicates effectively with dietary staff, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Prioritizes assigned tasks and completes work efficiently.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you will bring to the role:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current Food Worker Card/Permit as required by applicable regulations.
  • One year of experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or high-volume dishwashing/food service environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and infection prevention principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in a healthcare food service environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing safe, quality service.

Work Environment:

This position works in a healthcare food service environment and may be exposed to varying conditions, including heat, cold, moisture, noise, cleaning chemicals, food products, and equipment used in kitchen operations. The employee may work around moving mechanical equipment and may be exposed to conditions requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees are expected to follow all safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures.
