Nature and Scope

A Dishwasher in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) ensures the sanitation of dishes, pots, pans, and utensils, maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for residents by operating dish machines, cleaning kitchen areas, and handling waste. They are essential for infection control, strictly adhering to dietary department and health codes while supporting meal service.

Compensation

Compensation for Benefited, Part-Time Pay Scale

  • Base Rate: $19.56–$24.96 per hour
  • Starting pay is determined using our non-clinical pay scales, which feature 6 steps recognizing up to 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible employees may also receive shift differential and holiday pay

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

  • Previous Dishwasher experience.

Preferred Education

  • Obtain a California Food Handler Card or local health department certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions; basic reading and communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods, lift, bend, and work in a warm, sometimes wet environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial dishwashers, ensuring proper water temperatures and chemical concentrations (parts per million) are maintained.
  • Scrape, rinse, and rack soiled dishes, trays, pots, pans, and silverware; hand-wash larger or specialized items.
  • Properly store, dry, and rotate dishes, utensils, and equipment in designated areas.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors, clean worktables, sinks, walls, and refrigerators.
  • Empty trash containers, clean garbage cans, and replace liners.
