Position Purpose
The Housekeeper is primarily responsible for taking care of cleaning tasks, replenishing supplies and cleaning and storing housekeeping equipment for The Salvation Army Jackson’s Point Conference Centre in compliance with health and safety requirements. They ensure tidy and sanitary amenities to guests. The incumbent is a professional with integrity and attention to detail who will provide the highest level of guest satisfaction in cleanliness and service.

Key Accountabilities

  • Clean and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen surfaces in compliance with Public Health standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized kitchen, dishwashing, and dining areas, ensuring floors, stations, and equipment are safe and clutter-free throughout shifts.
  • Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment and stations, reporting malfunctions and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules, including storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, and kitchen equipment.
  • Support dining operations by bussing tables, resetting areas, and ensuring continuous availability of clean dishes and supplies.
  • Manage waste and recycling by monitoring, removing, and disposing of materials to maintain cleanliness and efficiency.
  • Assist with kitchen closing and shift transition tasks, including securing facilities, restocking, and preparing workstations for the next shift.
  • Track and communicate supply needs, ensuring adequate inventory of cleaning and kitchen essentials.
  • Uphold health, safety, and hygiene standards by adhering to OH&S regulations and reporting hazards or incidents to supervisors.
  • Provide general kitchen support, including basic food and beverage preparation and assisting with food storage and delivery organization.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a temporary part-time position based on 20 hours weekly.
  • Hours and work schedule will vary as operational requirements and follows a work rotation schedule and will include days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Education and experience Qualifications:

  • Completed grade 10.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, kitchen, or food service environments is an asset.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate and maintain industrial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Apply knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation standards to daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work efficiently under pressure, effectively multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills while collaborating with team members.
  • Show initiative, reliability, and flexibility, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $19.85 with a maximum of $23.82.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
