National Parks and Wildlife Service has an exciting opportunity for a Discovery Ranger (Tour Guide) Aboriginal Identified to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage in the Far South Coast.
About the role
Discovery Rangers develop and implement diverse activities and learning experiences for visitors across various locations to foster community awareness and appreciation for conserving the state’s natural and cultural heritage. This role will focus on practical experience in interpretive and educational guiding or in delivering classroom experiences.
This hands-on, educational role will focus on conducting school holiday and cruise ship leisure programs. You will also contribute to incursions/excursions for primary and secondary school groups. Under the direction of the Discovery Coordinator this position will assist with development of education and leisure tours programs and be responsible for activity delivery.
The work is casual in nature and there is a higher concentration of work September to April and during holiday periods though work continues year-round with school activities.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
About you

Your strong communication skills are paramount to the success of this role. You will be developing and delivering programs to park visitors and school students and will need to be able to think on your feet to respond to various questions and situations.
Self-management is important for this role as there may be times you will be working alone and will need to ensure safety is a priority meeting the required Work Health Safety standards.
