Job Description

Job Title: Disaster Response Intake Supervisor

Location: Colorado Custer County (Travel Required)
Job Type: Temporary 2 Weeks project

Rate: $40 per hour on 1099

The Disaster Response Intake Supervisor oversees intake operations during emergency response and disaster recovery efforts. This role is responsible for supervising intake staff, ensuring accurate client registration and documentation, maintaining service quality standards, and supporting operational readiness in shelters, disaster recovery centers, and emergency facilities. The supervisor serves as a key point of contact for staff, community partners, and emergency management teams while ensuring efficient service delivery to disaster-affected individuals and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Intake Specialists and intake operations staff during disaster response activities.
  • Monitor daily intake operations to ensure accurate client registration, data collection, and service coordination.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance oversight to intake personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, emergency response protocols, confidentiality standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Review intake documentation for accuracy, completeness, and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and operational coverage for shelters, recovery centers, and emergency facilities.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and mentoring new intake staff and volunteers.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex client situations and service issues.
  • Collaborate with emergency management personnel, community partners, healthcare providers, and social service agencies.
  • Prepare operational reports and communicate updates to management.
  • Support disaster recovery operations and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in customer service, emergency response, disaster relief, shelter operations, healthcare, social services, logistics, or call center operations.
  • Previous supervisory, team lead, or management experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, data entry, Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work independently and lead diverse teams effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising teams during emergency response, disaster recovery, shelter operations, healthcare, or social service programs.
  • Knowledge of incident management and emergency operations procedures.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and multicultural communities.

Physical & Travel Requirements

  • Ability to work in temporary shelters, community centers, disaster recovery centers, and emergency facilities.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Colorado based on operational needs.
  • Ability to work extended hours and respond to emergency activations.

Work Schedule

This position supports emergency disaster operations and requires flexibility.

Staff may be scheduled for:

  • Day, evening, overnight, and rotating shifts
  • Weekends and holidays
  • Extended hours during emergency activations
  • Multiple consecutive deployment days as operational needs require
